How do I know if I'm eligible for Instagram?

What do I need to do before I can apply?

Before you can apply for Instagram access, we recommend that you gather some bits of information that you will need during the application process. Without the below you will not be eligible for Instagram, so please make sure you have the following ready:

  • An Instagram Business account. If you do not have a business account yet, you can find instructions to switch to a business account in the Instagram article Set Up a Business Account on Instagram.

  • Admin access to the linked Facebook page. You will be asked to log in to Facebook during the application process, so make sure you are able to do this before starting your application.

  • Messaging permissions enabled. You can read how to enable messaging permissions here.

How can I apply for access?

New customers

You can apply for access by clicking on Start for Free on the MessageBird Instagram landing page. This will take you to an onboarding flow where you will first create a MessageBird account. Once this is done, you can follow the application steps below.

Existing MessageBird customers

If you already have a MessageBird account, you can add new channels via your Channels page. Look for the Instagram icon and press ‘Install’ to apply.

You can also apply for an Instagram channel directly from your Inbox account. Go to your ‘Settings’, click on ‘Channels’ followed by ‘Add Channels’. Look for the Instagram icon and click ‘Install’ to apply.
