Number restrictions in China

As of November 2023, due to industry-wide changes, Bird has discontinued call services to Mainland China.
Bird does not support call services to mainland China. This is due to the following regulations imposed by China:
Inbound calls only: Chinese numbers are restricted to inbound calls and cannot be used for outbound calling.
International dialing only: Chinese numbers can only receive calls from international, non-Chinese numbers. Calls with a Chinese caller ID will fail.
Long call duration required: Due to strict spam monitoring and VoIP restrictions, numbers that regularly place calls under three minutes are likely to be blocked.
No unsolicited marketing: Unsolicited marketing calls are prohibited.
Avoid high-volume, unanswered calls: A high volume of unanswered outbound calls to Chinese numbers will result in calls being blocked.
Avoid repeat calls: Repeated calls from the same origin number within one hour will result in numbers being blocked.
No toll-free numbers: Using toll-free numbers for calling will result in that number being blocked.
China's strict telecommunication regulations are universal, and apply to Bird and all other carriers.
