Installing and managing channels

Whether you know which channel you’d like to explore, or you want to discover new ways to communicate with your customers, discovering and installing a channel is easy.

Find and install a channel

Follow these steps to discover and install a channel:

  1. Click on the Channels tab in the side panel to access the Channels library.

  2. Under the Marketplace tab, you'll see a list of all available channels that can be installed. Scroll through the list, or use the search bar to find a specific channel.

  3. Click on a channel to view its overview page, where you'll find detailed information about what the channel does and how you can use it, including:

    • The channel's purpose and functionality.

    • Any specific requirements needed for installation (such as a Facebook Business account for WhatsApp).

    • Inbound and/or outbound messaging capabilities, including message types and structured message options.

    • Channel-specific documentation, pricing information, and Privacy Policies.

  4. Once you're ready to install the channel, simply click the Install channel button in the top right-hand corner of the page.

  5. Follow the installation instructions provided for the specific channel to complete the process.

View information about an installed channel

If you've installed a channel and want to view its details or make changes to it, such as updating its configuration or removing it from MessageBird, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Channels tab in the side panel to access the Channels library.

  2. Under the Your channels tab, you'll be able to see the channels you've installed.

  3. Click the channel that you want to view.

  4. On the next page, you can find the following information about every installed channel instance:

    • The name of each channel instance.

    • The channel ID of each channel instance.

    • The status of each channel instance, such as active or pending.

    • The creation date of the channel.

View information about a specific channel instance

To view detailed information about a specific channel instance, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Channels tab in the side panel to access the Channels library.

  2. Under the Your channels tab, you'll be able to see the channels you've installed.

  3. Select a channel.

  4. Locate the channel instance that you want to view more information about.

  5. Click the three dots on the right-hand side, then click to see additional information.

Install additional instances of a channel

To install more than one instance of a channel, such as an additional WhatsApp number, or another Facebook Messenger channel, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Channels tab in the side panel to access the Channels library.

  2. Under the Your channels tab, you'll be able to see the channels you've installed.

  3. Select the channel that you want to add an additional instance of, such as WhatsApp.

  4. Click the Add new channel button on the top right-hand corner of the screen.

  5. Follow the specific installation instructions for the channel you want to install.
