Sending multiple versions of the same email
How to export your emails to Iterable
The connector allows you to create new templates in Iterable. After creating the email and adding all the content in Taxi you can select which folder you want to export to in Iterable and at the click of a button export from Taxi. You can also create new Iterable campaigns from Taxi to avoid the manual step of creating the campaign after you have exported.
When using a master template all of your modules will be fully render tested and are ready to use in any of your emails. When using the connector you don’t need to touch the HTML of individual emails at any part of your process so you can further ensure consistent rendering.
You’re also able to update existing templates through the connector. If a mailing has been exported to Iterable but a last-minute change is needed, you can make the change in Taxi and quickly override the email that has previously been exported.
Even once the email has been exported to Iterable, there’ll be no need to edit the HTML.
Taxi allows you to create multiple versions of an email within a mailing and you’re able to export these in one go to Iterable.
Create a mailing template for each version Export every version in your mailing as a different template as opposed to exporting each version manually. This will save time and make the process of exporting from Taxi to Iterable as smooth as possible. You can set the template name and a from name.
Use a segment set Create a single template that contains all of the content from all your versions and uses Iterable handlebars to select a version based on information about an individual recipient. This will be exported as one HTML to Iterable and the handlebars will wrap around the HTML for each version to determine who will receive what content.
Use locales Locales in Iterable enable you to create multiple versions of a template to send different translations of an email. Find out more information here: https://support.iterable.com/hc/en-us/articles/213279923-Using-Locales-for-Multi-Language-Support When choosing this option you can map the versions you have in your mailing to the locales you have in your Iterable account.
When you export to Iterable and preview each of your locales, the relevant version will have been exported from Taxi. For example, the Spanish version has been exported as the Spanish locale of a template.
You’ll have to set up your locale names in Taxi, in your connector settings to match the locales you have in your Iterable account.
Whether you are exporting multiple templates, using a segment set or sending multi language emails with locales, our connector will be able to support your workflow.
Quite often there will be different ‘reply to’ addresses for each locale. In the Iterable connector settings, there is an option to set a different one for each of your locales by default.
To export a version to Iterable you will need to select the Project, Mailing and finally the Version you would like to export. You can export from the Mailing level, Version level or from the visual editor.
To export:
In Taxi, head to your Home screen Select the Project that contains the version you want to export
Select the Mailing If you are Admin you can select the Kebab menu and select 'Export' on the mailing level
After selecting the Mailing you will see the Versions page Select the 'Export Mailing' option on the right-hand side of the screen under the Exports section. Alternatively select the version you want to export to open it in the visual editor
In the visual editor, select 'Export Mailing'
5. On the Export page, scroll to ESP connectors Select your Iterable connector
6. Select 'Create a new email' or 'Update an existing email' When you select 'Create a new template' you will see the options 'Create a campaign linked to an Iterable template' and 'Create a transactional template'
If you select 'Create a transactional template' when the export completes the message type will be set to Transactional Message
Taxi creates a base template in Taxi. Base templates are the building blocks for campaigns, but when you associate a base template with a campaign, Iterable automatically creates a new template (called a campaign template). These new campaign templates are now associated with your campaign so that we can keep metrics based on the newly created template ID.
It also allows you to keep your base template in whatever format you would like, and edit the campaign templates for those specific sends.
You can read more about base templates here
If you choose to create a campaign, it also creates a campaign template as well as the base template.
7. Under the Segmentation section You can select if you want to export one version or Send different versions to different segments or address books.
Select 'Use Locales' to map each Iterable Locale to a Taxi Version. Locales in Iterable enable you to create multiple versions of a template to send different translations of an email. Find out more information here
When choosing this option you can map the versions you have in your mailing to the locales you have in your Iterable account.
Locales need to be set up in your connector settings page. If none is selected no export will take place for that version
8. Click 'Start Export' You will see a green banner when your export is complete and you can open your exported email in Iterable from Taxi
