What's new in the new Taxi for Email

Welcome to your new Taxi for Email. We've redesigned the entire platform to make it easier to use and rebuilt the editor to make it faster and even more reliable.

We've redesigned the navigation to include clearer icons and tooltips and group things together more intuitively. We've also moved it to give you more space to work on your emails.

In this article, we're going to take a look at what's changed in the latest release.

Easier to use

The most obvious change is the location of the main navigation. We've moved this to the left hand side of the Taxi screen along with new menu options.

What's changed in the navigation?

Content is now 'Projects', and is now also the home page of your account. Data has been renamed to Dynamic Content, where you'll find personalisation, segment sets, single segments, feeds and link tracking.

Export history is now named exports. You'll find all your exports here, split into 3 tabs for the different types of export you can do.

We've also added 'Integrations'. Here you'll find all the tools that integrate with your Taxi account.

Finally, we've moved the organisation settings into separate sections so they're easier to get to, and find what you're after.

What's changed in the editor:

The way the save button works is now much clearer. Content will only be saved when the save button is clicked, and the button notifies you once it's successfully saved your work. Before, changes to modules (adding, removing, reordering or segmenting) would get saved instantly without any indication, but content would not. We've made this a consistent behaviour across Taxi.

You'll now see a preview of the module as you're adding modules to your email. There's a preview window that shows what you're about to add to your email.

You can now rename a module to call it what you need - it's now much easier to identify which 'Full width image' module is referring to in your preview.

When working in a module, the module name sticks to the top of the editor so you can see what you're working on. You can also only have one module at a time open, meaning you'll no longer get lost scrolling to find where you're working.

The segmentation button in the editor has a new icon and location. Once selected the segmentation options will appear in a sliding panel.

You can now switch between segments within a module by clicking the name of the segment when the module is open. This will cycle through your segments.

Because we've rebuilt the platform from the ground up, we've made sure that Taxi loads your emails faster. At the same time, we've improved the stability of the platform.

Streamlined processes

We've made a number of changes to the editor to make it easier and quicker to create your emails in Taxi.

You can now duplicate modules. This will duplicate all the content and segmentation, to save you time as you're creating your email.

When you're adding images to your email, you'll see information about the image before inserting it into your email. This includes the file type, size and dimensions. This helps your team avoid accidentally sending large images.

We've added an option to allow you quickly check the links you have entered into a module. This will open the URL in a new tab allowing you to view and test your link.

Inheritance is now controlled through a new icon in the editor. When the inheritance icon is highlighted blue the field is inheriting content from the Master Version, Email Design System or default version content. When the icon is greyed out inheritance has been switched off and it is no longer inheriting content. You can click the icon to switch back and forth.

Deleted modules are now found via a new icon at the top of each module zone. You can use this to include any module from the master version, or modules that have been deleted from the current version.

In the master version there is a new icon on each module this opens a panel for choosing which sub-versions that module should be included in.

If you are coding your own Email Design System you can now enable the 'underline' text style, in the same you would with bold and italic.
