Audiences

Audiences are collections of contacts that are grouped together based on a set of criteria.

Audiences are dynamic. This means that as contacts are added to MessageBird and match the audience criteria, they are automatically added to the audience. The same is true if existing contact profiles are updated and match the audience criteria.

If a contact profile is updated and no longer matches the audience criteria, the contact will be automatically removed from the audience. This ensures that your audiences are always up-to-date and accurate

Create an audience

Audiences can be created from the Contacts directory.

  1. From the sidebar, select Contacts, then make sure you are in the Directory tab.

  2. If you need to find specific contacts, you can use the search bar to search for them by name, email address, phone number, or other attribute.

  3. Specify which attributes and conditions the contacts should match. Start by selecting whether you want the audience to include contacts that match "All" or "Any" of the following attributes/condition groups.

  4. Filter contacts by attributes, or by condition groups, which are nested attribute filters. Choose from a range of filtering options, such as "has any value," "is unknown," "equals," and "starts with."

  5. Use "and/or" filtering functionality to combine different attributes and conditions.

  6. Contacts that match the criteria you have outlined are displayed in the list below. Once you're happy with your audience, click the Save Audience button.

  7. Type a name for your audience in the Audience name field.

  8. Optionally, type a description for your audience in the Audience description field. This will make it easier for other users to understand how you've set the audience up.

  9. Click the Save Audience button at the bottom of the screen to save your audience.

Your audience has been saved. View it by clicking the Audience tab.

To save time, existing audiences can be used as a foundation for building a new audience. Click New audience and select an existing audience from the list. This will automatically populate the new audience with the same criteria as the selected foundation.
