Create a carousel WhatsApp message template

Carousel messages allow recipients to scroll through up to ten product cards directly in WhatsApp.

Carousel cards can contain the following content:

  • An image OR a video

  • Body text

  • At least one action, quick reply, or phone button, up to a maximum of two buttons

What you'll need

Step one: Set up up your message project

  1. Go to Content > Message templates.

  2. Click Create new message project.

  3. Under 'Platform', select WhatsApp.

  4. Under 'Interaction', select WhatsApp approved.

  5. Under 'WhatsApp Business account', select the account you want to use.

  6. Under category, select Marketing.

  7. Under 'Message type', select Carousel.

  8. Give your message project a recognizable name.

  9. Give your message template a unique name. This name will be used when we submit your message template to WhatsApp for approval.

  10. Use the 'Default locale' dropdown to select the default language for your template.

  11. Click Get started now.

Step two: Design and publish your message

  1. In the panel on the right-hand side of your screen, in the 'Bubble text' field, enter some text that your customers will be able to see above the carousel. For example, 'Check out our new range of skincare items'.

  2. Click the first carousel card.

  3. Under 'Header', choose either Image or Video, then upload your content or add a URL.

  4. In the 'Body text' field, enter the message that you want to accompany the card.

  5. Under 'Buttons', choose at least one button type to add to your card.

  6. Complete the fields for the button type you have selected.

  7. [Optional] Click Add button to add another button to your card.

  8. Click the symbol to exit the card configuration.

  9. Click + Add to add a new card.

  10. Repeat the process for each remaining card you want to add.

  11. You can preview your message template and drag the carousel cards to see how your message will look.

  12. Click Publish.

  13. Wait for your template to be approved.

FAQs

When the offer expires, what do customers see?

When the offer expires the message will automatically be updated to show “offer ended” and the copy code button will also no longer be displayed.
