# Data retention settings

In this article, you will learn how to use data retention settings for tickets in Inbox.

**Data retention**

Data retention is the storing of information for a specified period.&#x20;

**Data retention settings in Inbox**

Inbox lets you set a data retention period for tickets. Inbox will automatically delete the resolved tickets once the retention period expires.

**How to set the data retention period for tickets?**

To set the data retention period for tickets in Inbox, please follow the following steps:

1\. Navigate to the Data Retention section on your Inbox settings page.

2\. Open the "Ticket retention duration" dropdown and select the retention period for your tickets. By default "Unlimited" option is selected.

3\. Click on "Apply retention durations" to change the settings.

**Important!** Please beware that retention settings immediately affect all the resolved tickets in your Inbox. We advise you to change the data retention settings when you are sure.
