# Why am I unable to buy a Number?

You can buy a Number directly in your Dashboard. Simply navigate to the [Numbers menu](https://dashboard.messagebird.com/en/numbers) on the left-hand side of the Dashboard, and click on the blue "[Buy a Number](https://dashboard.messagebird.com/en/numbers/modal/buy-number)" button in the top-right corner.&#x20;

Sometimes, however, you may not be able to purchase a number via the Dashboard. In some cases, the "Buy a Number" button won't even be visible in your account. In these cases, you'll need to contact our Support team for further assistance.

Below we've listed some reasons for why you might not be able to buy a Number at the moment, and how to resolve this:

| You haven't topped-up your account yet and are still using test credits.                    | Numbers can't be bought with test credits. | You don't have enough balance to purchase your desired Number.                              | Please [top-up your account](/connectivity-platform/getting-started/topping-up-balance.md) with some balance.                                                                                                                                       |
| Your account is **not** using one of the following currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, CAD, AUD | In this case, you will not see the "Buy a number" button in the Dashboard. Please [contact our Support team](https://www.messagebird.com/en/contact) to switch your currency, or to add a number for you manually.                                  |
| For Benelux users: You are using credits instead of a currency-based balance.               | In this case, you will not see the "Buy a number" button in the Dashboard. Please [contact our Support team](https://www.messagebird.com/en/contact) to add a number for you manually.                                                              |
| The country you would like to buy a Number for is not displayed in the "Buy a number" menu. | There may be some special restrictions for Numbers in this particular country, or we have to order a number from our numbering partner. Please [contact our Support team](https://www.messagebird.com/en/contact) to add a number for you manually. |

Whenever you contact our Support team with a Number request, please make sure to include the following information:

* Which country do you need a number for?
* Which Number capabilities do you need? SMS, Voice, or both?
* If you are looking for a Voice-capable number, would you like us to check if a certain area code is available?&#x20;
