# SMS Virtual Mobile Numbers (VMN)

By using an SMS-capable virtual mobile number (VMN), you can send and receive SMS through your MessageBird dashboard. You can [set up a Flow](/connectivity-platform/how-to-guides/how-to-set-up-a-flow-to-send-outbound-sms.md) to forward your replies, automate responses, and manage opt-outs.

Localise your business by selecting your Numbers’ country codes based on where your customers are. They’ll be more inclined to respond as they’re only charged their standard network rate to reply, rather than an international rate.

VMNs involve a monthly [subscription](https://dashboard.messagebird.com/en/finance/subscriptions) fee. In the [numbers menu](https://dashboard.messagebird.com/en/numbers), you can see all dedicated VMNs currently attached to your account, and you can also buy new numbers.

For information on Shared and Dedicated numbers, please take a look at this article [here](/connectivity-platform/virtual-numbers/what-is-the-difference-between-a-shared-and-a-dedicated-number.md).
